Same for my dog - he's always tended to vomit on an empty stomach. Today I served him breakfast, which he didn't want. Then hours later he puked. I'm going to change his kibble and if he's still like this on the new kibble, I will take him to the vet.

Any update OP? Is your pup doing ok?

Op here - sorry, yes, she’s fine! She perked up right away and was back to her normal self…. Except… today she seems to have a blood shot eye. Just the left one. Hmmm

I would just take him to the vet.

For my dog this was ulcers and he took meds to fix it.

Now that the plants are popping up outside, turns out my dog had something similar, but had eaten one of our plants in the backyard that upsets her stomach.

^ same re: an empty stomach. I force feed a few bits of their regular food. They should have some food on their stomach. But not cheese, for most dogs. Due to pancreatitis concerns. For whatever reasons dogs are much more sensitive to what they eat than they were decades ago.

Yes. I feed her some meat or cheese and see if she perks up.

I wouldn’t change his kibble if he’s been ok with it in the past, dogs get sensitive stomachs from changing food. I wouldn’t change his add some pumpkin to it for upset stomachs and hopefully he’s better. If not, I would fast him for 12 hours or so and then feed chicken and rice, very bland

My dog always does this if she hasn't eaten in a while because she has an empty stomach.

if dog is still eating, drinking and voiding, you might suspect parasites. All kinds of worms and "yucky bugs" can create gastro upset, even without other obvious signs (like "dire rears" and/or obvious worms in stool). Unless you've had a recent all-clear fecal float, you might want to get that done.

If a dog stops eating and drinking, you know there's trouble. Monitor for a few hours and call vet if needed.

I do the hot dog test. If I offer my dog a bite of hot dog (or other high value treat) and she refuses, it's time to worry.

Good luck, OP! Hope your pup is ok.

Thanks! This is helpful. She drank water this morning and also seemed very happy to have some of my leftover (plain) pancake.

Assume there's a block and withhold food, see if it passes. If they can't keep down water, go to the vet.

I have a full day of work but obviously if this is an emergency I’d take her in to the vet.

Thoughts? She didn’t eat anything abnormal yesterday but the day before I noticed a small cat toy was missing (felt ball), and I now wonder if the dog ate it.
