High end steakhouses don't take servers with zero experience in the industry.

Substitute teaching for sure! It’s not easy but they always need people. I cat sit on the side and it’s a solid gig job.

Doubt they’re hiring - everyone is cutting back on eating out. So many articles about how restaurants are laying staff off.

This is a good list. I’d add:

- Gardening help
- Help putting together/repairing furniture
- Tutoring if you have the right expertise
- Conversation partner, if you speak a foreign language
- temporary event help with event planning/catering companies

Lots of seasonal summer shops might need help soon, like ice cream shops and related.

Adult care, 35 per hour, the overnight shift is a good one because we had our caregivers sleep on the couch and you really don’t do anything other than be an adult presence in the house

Coming into an ideal season for pet sitting. They charge a lot. That might work well in your own neighborhood. And tell friends. Word of mouth referrals make you more trustworthy.

Good luck my friend.

Recommend posting in your local groups, nextdoor etc. saying clearly what are the things that you can help with dog walking, picking driving kids to activities, tutoring, home work help, home organization, running errands, baby sitting, meal prep, grocery shopping. Not necessarily a job with regular hours or long term job prospects.

In Tech I see two kinds of people now , one category that has lost their job and the other where they now need to work insane hours under high pressure to keep their job. I would love to hire someone ad hoc who could help me with some of these things. Very few lucky folks are able to keep their job while still managing family responsibilities.
