This is ... the entire reason I take progesterone.

Count me as another one. On my way to pick up my new Rx right now (just saw my doc this morning). I am so excited!

Would you mind sharing what test you did for your doctor to see that you needed the HRT? I also have anxiety and sleep poorly but I’ve heard that progesterone levels vary widely so I’m not sure how they can do a test.

OP: Doc didn't do any testing, she concluded because of my weight gain in the last 6 months (8 pds), interrupted sleep and age (56) that I might benefit from HRT. Mens was also gone by more than 6 months by now. Anxiety and sleep definitely got better. I am taking 100 mg progesterone (oral) and 0.05 mg Estradiol (patch)

So she didn't check any of your hormone levels before starting you on hormone supplements? Yikes...

Yeah, I’m with the other posters. You don’t need blood tests and you might have a doc running up bills if the doc is sending you to get all these blood levels.

There’s no reliable hormone test for perimenopause because levels are all over the place throughout the month. HRT is prescribed based on symptoms.

My gyn did not test my hormone levels . She listened to my description of symptoms and started me on .05 patch - said she would tweak based on how I felt.

Why is being sleepy and sleeping well a problem?

I had to do that during fertility treatments.

Worked fine

i am taking the estradiol patch and progestrone orally. My anxiety is gone, my mood is better, I sleep well, no hot flashes all within a month. However, I take the progesterone at night and feel very drowsy.... and sleep well. Doc suggested to remedy this, using the oral pills vaginally. Anyone doing his? I just wonder how the pill dissolves and is being absorbed vaginally due to the fact that it is an oral pill.

Another question, if you take progesterone 10 days a month, what is your dosis? TIA
