If you are seeing people's posts about their vacation as a "brag" that makes them a "loser," you might be overreacting out of jealousy.

Anyone who uses their SM posts to brag is a loser. This applies to posting about clubs, vacations, cars, schools or any material possession. If you need to highlight the fact that you have these things, you’re lacking in other areas. The people who know me well know what schools my kids attend, which clubs I belong to, where I live, etc. The people that don’t know me well don’t need this information.

Are they social influencers? Sometimes influencers get deals/$ for tags. I think sometimes even commoners can get discounts places for tagging/giving positive reviews, etc.

The Country Club thing used to fascinate me. I had a few friends over the year from major generational wealth, and I didn't know until I saw their home or something accidentally slipped that gave it a way. They belonged to country clubs and that sort of thing but never brought it up. They were understated and I found that classy.

I have one friend from college who is obsessed with dropping wealth/status markers and I have heard about the country club they belonged to growing up at least 100 times. She makes sure you notice her new over-priced purse. She is obsessed with looking wealthy. The thing is underneath that there is a funny and self-aware person. Her mother was deeply insecure and even though the mom came from some wealth I guess she was desperate as a non-Wasp to fit in with wealthy Wasp culture? My own mother was also obsessed with pretending to be WASPs, yet expected us to be proud of our ethnicity too. My mother will name drop BS stuff to impress people. So my long-winded answer is....the person is very insecure. Hopefully that person will gain perspective.

They need to stop glomming onto their parents' membership and get their own- while they can still buy via legacy. I'm surprised the CC is permitting this unless they don't live in the area. Most keep very good tabs of members and visitors.

People are desperate to feel “important” any way they can. This is just the world now. It’s tragic.

Why do people go out of their way to tag a country club in every social media post?

There’s a group of single women my age (40) who are visiting their parent’s country club and just hash tagging the crap out of it in every photo! It’s so weird. I mean 20 photos of an outing there with nephew.
