Thanks for writing and for your interest in our journal. I regret your critique that our journals findings are tendentious.

Please allow me to explain. It is custom for scientists and publications like ours to report the findings of the scientific process. It may not be the government's view of events.

The process is open to critique and could indeed be viewed as biased, but we have used this process since The Enlightenment and it has stood the test of time. In fact it has brought great progress and innovation to our peoples. It may be comforting for you to know, that failed or flawed experiments do not typically progress or succeed because they do not yield any pragmatic or commercial results.

I understand your frustration. You are in good company. Plenty of governments, for example churches, have attacked scientists when their findings were oppositional to its official beliefs and positions. We do not concern ourselves with these matters.

Please send along the criminal or civil codes that you claim are relevant to our editorial board. We will pass it along to our lawyers, with whom we try not to associate. Good day.

A lot yes, but over the past 20+ years NIH (I work under NIH funded research) has constantly looked at our demographic data- specifically race/ethnicity- during a clinical trial to make sure groups are represented. Not sure if that will still be happening. I've also published on race disparities in care. Assuming those may be non-publishable for now for risk of losing funding.

DC crimes is prosecuted out of the USAG office.

I’m not ready to be hysterical yet. I don’t think anyone with any deep knowledge of science has a lot of respect left for Scientific American, for instance. Now why the administration is bothering with this, I don’t know, but the Biden administration certainly fried some extremely small fish, so it’s not unprecedented.

No, not "magazines" like Scientific American. They are targeting peer reviewed journals that publish clinical research. The only one mentioned is CHEST which covers things like pulmonology, cardiology, etc. This is very concerning.
