What do you want to get out of the 2nd home and how often will you visit it?

Beautiful area but depends where your current house is. 66 and 29 can be awful with traffic making trips out that way difficult for a regular weekend.

We're considering a second home near Charlottesville VA and are interested in hearing from others who know this area well. We're looking for properties in nature--i.e. not right in any of these areas, but in the surrounding foothills/mountains. Anyone in DC have a second home around there or is it too far?
