Agree with this. Mine is planning to get a physics degree at a SLAC and then attend a grad school for Engineering. 3/2 takes away the SLAC experience.

The one about UVA and W&M being that different…

That your kid's top stats (grades, rigor, and scores) will be reconsidered by the committee as part of the AO committee's holistic review; and that those top-tier stats will add a bump to your kid's application.

[reality - the grades/rigor/scores get you to the room, then are never looked at again. It's about everything else]

Great essays can compensate for weak grades

or

Great grades can compensate for weak ECs or Essays

You need to total package (or be a recruited athlete) for top schools today.

Or that a great test score can compensate for any of that.

A2C is filled with teenagers and college students who have very limited experience. So yes, myth making and incorrect information abounds there.

They are very different. What makes you think they aren't?

High admission rate colleges are full of slackers and you can't get a good education there.

A2C is a bunch of high school kids spreading misinformation among themselves. When people with experience try to help (there are some AOs and Counselors who periodically comment) they get argued with. I would place zero weight on what you se on A2C. DCUM is wildly toxic but you can gleen actaul nuggest of advice here. CC will provide the best information but a few consistent posters are annoying.

That’s a weird way of spelling DCUM.
