It may be a matter of where and when you're traveling. I've witnessed it at popular winter and spring break family destinations, but not otherwise.

Social media has conditioned us to only think about us. Selfies, curated content about ourselves, generating followers and likes. Conditioned to be the best athlete, student....seek prestige, $$$, accolades. Me...me...me... It is no longer worthwhile to be kind and respectful as that will cause us to lose our edge and freedom transferring "power" to someone else. If I open the door for you, you are superior. If I stop my kids from running up and down the hotel hallway they lose their fun while you gain your peace. Can't have that.

I actually find it’s often older Americans. They are just naturally loud and I don’t mean in an obnoxious or rude way. Just like their normal volume is set to loud so you can hear every word of their normal conversation.

I find people rude all the time and oblivious to others. We've had several instances in which people were LOUD in the room next to ours in the middle of the night: group of women literally screaming and laughing getting ready to go out, a family in town for a game who got there at midnight and would.not.go.to.bed for hours and the dad had a huge booming voice and was leading them all in some cheer. People have zero respect and I don't get it.

It's rampant and has affected my willingness to travel as much as I used to.

Not a hotel, but I was in the waiting room of a pediatrician’s office and this dad was talking so loudly with his kid. The kid then got up and was banging on this window and he sat there and said nothing. So I think it’s not just travel but this behavior is everywhere these days. Maybe people forgot how to act normal during COVID.
