I think that's accurate for a 4 year degree. A much higher percentage has an associates/trade degree. Think nurses, electricians, dental hygienist, air traffic controllers. How many people do you know with those jobs? Yep, you live in a big fat bubble.

Think about the human landscape of the US. Think about all of the jobs there are and what the professional:nonprofessional ratio probably is. Think about all the rural areas, all the retail and customer service jobs, the military, all the jobs that require a certificate or training but not a degree. Look around you at the people working when you go to a restaurant, the dmv, check in at a doctor’s office, go through the airport, etc.

The DMV area is highly educated in general - and wealth and privilege are overrepresented in DCUM. Large swaths of the US are not like things are here.

This is why I get upset when people tag on FCPS or MCPS

While they both need improvement and constant attention a significantly large percentage go to college.

Look at red states then stop complaining

That doesn't surprise me. I went to a large public high school in a small city. Most of my classmates did not go to college, and many of those who did attended community college or non-selective school in the state system.

Feel sorry for you OP. Obviously, college was wasted on you.

I was one of 25 in my high school class of 600 that went directly to college. Midwest.

You live here. My public Ffx Co HS had 98% go onto a 4-year college. And the others mostly still went to community college.

My spouse from the Midwest had only about 50% go onto a 4-year college--and it was a middle class HS.
