Do you have your cell phone(s) on xfinity? They use the Verizon network. Our cable is pricey but we haven’t switched in part because our phones (both lines) are 3 GB for $36 (total) / month and $12 / GB after that. Most months we’re paying $48 for our phones combined and we were well over that each previously.

With xfinity, what is internet price if drop the cable part? And how can Verizon internet only be $20 as pp has? Their towers start at $50 I thought.

I pay $20 for Verizon internet and it’s perfect. No tv or cable, but I stream live tv or use subscriptions and never need tv service.

Before you get one you should know they aren’t perfect and your reception will depend on many variables like distance, location of property, weather, geography (are you in valley? On hill? Behind building? Site line to towers? Etc.).

There is no perfect antenna so you’ll likely have to try a few. I suggest buying one with an amplifier (usually plugs into power or usb) so you can try both ways.

Verizon FIOS is better than Comcast by far, especially so for Internet, but even true for CableTV.

That said, these days it usually is cheaper to streAm and have a TV antenna (ours is in the attic) than to have traditional cable TV. I agree with PP that even the slower Verizon Internet service is more than enough for 95% of people.

Ting or RCN also are worth exploring if they have fiber service to your house.

Yes that's why we switch every two years. To get the "new customer" promotional pricing, which usually lasts for 2 years. But obviously need to have both as an option,.not everyone does.

Also a lot of people get upsold to faster speed they don't need. An HD Netflix stream is 5 mbps, even a 4k stream is 25 mpbs. Even with multiple users it's very unlikely anyone needs more than a 200 mbps connection.

Wonderful if you have a choice. We were trapped in the comcast monopoly until very recently. Just broke free to Verizon. Early days, but it’s significantly cheaper. We were in the $300+ bucket with comcast.

wow you need to stop paying that $300 a month TODAY. Good grief. I cut comcast off when I was paying them $215 a month for basic cable and slow internet and they wanted $225. I said let's keep it at $215 (which was a total rip off but I'm lazy). Finally said FU and now I pay about $100 for both!

We pay $60/month for xfinity internet and it works fine. We don’t have a cable service - just antenna plus streaming.

If you want live TV, you can use an antenna for broadcast stuff.

YoutubeTV is fantastic as a service but it's gotten a lot more expensive. It's like $90/month now. You can share it with up to 5 friends if they live in the DC region by adding them to your Google "Family", Another good option for live TV is Sling.

Our Xfinity DVR has been glitching and it is impossible to get a hold of a live person at Xfinity (Comcast). I'm directed to an AI Bot or someone in a call center - always in a chat. In addition, our service is $300 per month for both high speed internet (need that for work from home) and cable. Would like to hear other's experiences with Verizon, including pricing. Or, any other less expensive ways to cut the bill. Youtube TV, etc. The bill has crept up over the years and since we mostly do on demand and streaming, thinking of cutting the cord.
