Anybody??

One of my kids at BCC went to a dinner at someone’s house. It was pot luck. Another kid went out to dinner with a group to Sequoia. I think it just depends on the friend crowd.

This is what I know so far. DD, a junior is going to her senior boyfriend's prom at a different school. They're meeting at someone's house for pictures (there may or may not be food there, not sure). They'll get picked up by a party bus (being planned and coordinated by some moms which I'm not a part of) which will take them to DC to take more pictures. I'm not sure if they're eating at a restaurant -my DD doesn't know yet and she thinks probably not since there's food at prom. From DC they will go to the prom and then leave the prom to go to an after party at someone's house. They're mostly excited about the after party. This is all new to me too and I'm not involved in any of the planning since it's for a different school.

My DD is a current senior. Her plan is to go with a date, in a group. Yes to bouttonnieres and corsages. They'll meet at someone's house to get ready and take some photos before getting onto their rented bus. For homecoming they went down to the monuments to take pictures. This time I hear it may be at someone's country club. They will eat before the dance. They will stay at the dance briefly. I think her group will only briefly check out the PTA after party and then make other plans.

Seeing no answers, I can speak to another nearby school but I suspect it’s similar. The most popular thing to do is go downtown to the monuments to take photos and hang out. If you have the funds, groups often rent a bus to do the driving so kids/parents aren’t driving. Some take photos elsewhere instead of heading downtown. Some groups skip dinner but many go to a restaurant before prom. Most don’t show up right on time for prom but there’s probably a time they need to be there by. Secure your restaurant reservations now. The date’s parents might prefer to pick her up/have her drive herself from after prom so offer transport home but ask her.

My DS, a senior, is going to his first prom. He knows from a friend in an earlier class that a suit is fine (doesn’t need to rent a tux). I told him he will be expected to get his date a corsage and escort her from her home and back. PTA is hosting after-prom until 2am.

Do kids typically go for a meal before the dance? In a group maybe? I don’t think his current friend group has been to a prom before.
