Merit aid is very limited at UVA.

This. It is hard to get classes. Dorms are meh. Then everyone moves off campus sophomore year and u need to ride transportation to class.

It is a beautiful part of the country. I get relaxed every time I come in on rte 29 and start seeing the VA countryside, rolling hills.

VT is better for the football experience and engineering, pre-vet, etc.

It’s a lot of Greek life which turned my kid off.

They probably mentioned “attractive” to exclude any typical loud, aggressive kids from Dorchester or Brockton who might have shown up in Charlottesville asking strangers where they can get a wicked grindah.

Independent, outgoing, and smart. The first two because it's a fairly big school and the latter because it's a competitive school with little grade inflation or hand holding.

I have a junior DS from New England. He’s preppy, loves the outdoors. Unsure if major, likely Poly Sci or Econ. We had been looking at smaller schools closer to home but UVA seems to have that je ne sais quoi that sets it apart from other state schools.
