**physical goods, particularly consumables, are a form of savings account. Your 6 month emergency fund goes further if you have 3 months of non-perishables already.

I've stocked up on everything I regularly use, that won't go bad, and that I have room to store - toiletries, paper and foil products, well-stocked freezer, pet food trying to stay at least 3 months deep on. Made some large furniture purchases after the election. Physical goods

It won't hold me over forever but I want to be able to withstand any supply chain shenanigans if companies slow down production, hold items at the port to wait out a tariff decision, or have sourcing issues. Even thinking about stuff like packaging - we are very global.

We bought another car, new iphones (Pro Max 1T), and a new laptop for college child.

My senior citizen in-laws rushed out to buy a car (theirs was going bad, but wasn't gone) in anticipation of the tariffs. It was stressful, as they had been calmly looking for a car, and then rushed to buy it before the tariffs took effect. I hate that Trump has turned this country into a banana republic.

I hate it too. Things were good. Perfect? No, of course not. But good. And then Hurricane Piss-Brain came along - not just came along, but was ushered into power by people who got lazy and decadent, and thought that nothing too terrible could ever happen here.

Nope, I'm holding off just in spite.

Yeah - I said on another thread, this feels like heading back into COVID times with messed up supply chains. I stocked up on TP, allergy meds, and pet food. Stuff I know I am going to need. Everything else - well, we'll see what happens. Prbly not a bad idea to fill the pantry with canned and frozen food, but we haven't done it yet.

Apple flew 5 cargo planes full of inventory in the last week of March from India and China, I guess going by the comments about iPhone purchases they were right to do so. I upgraded mine in Jan because I fully expected this $hit show.

Bought a new iphone. Almost three years old and was up for a new one in a few months, but pulled the trigger earlier.

Bought some $4.98 tee shirts at Walmart. Figure we won’t be seeing prices like that in the future.

I upgraded my phone today. It's almost 2 years old and the new iphone 16 is such a big upgrade, plus the phone is "free." My new monthly bill is only $3 more.

Just brought a new washer too, but that would have happened anyway.
