You might have an infection of sorts. Most "ulcers" are caused by bacterial or viral infections. Ulcers never heal until you address the infection. You could be in the beginning stages of one.

PPI's just lower stomach acid, which can lead to worse infections and many other maladies such as anemia and cancers. Temporary use is fine, but not long term for months or more.

Probiotics are where you need to start now. Also, exercise.

For me quitting coffee and alcohol for a couple months along with PPI. I didn't get better until I gave up coffee completely though.

PP here.

In addition to avoiding Ibuprophen, definitely avoid alcohol as well. Sorry. That just does not go well with my stomach.

I got over it after taking Prilosec for about 8 months. It could have been fine to stop sooner, but I didn't think about stopping. Then I just decided to cut back and stop... and I've been fine ever since. You could probably try Prilosec for a 2-3 months and then taper off. I've been fine ever since... the key for me is to NOT take ibuprofen much at all (that's what caused it in the first place -- taking it after dental work when the dentist told me to take it for several days). And if I really have to take Ibuprophen, I only take it with food.

Had cursory testing, CT scan, etc. Seems to just be gastritis that just started. On PPI right now.

Has anyone beat this through diet? Meds? For how long? I seem to be in a common gray area with a lot of people and we all have varying advice/ prescriptions.
