Yes I am an RPCV. Many of my group went on to State Department and USAID. I was frequently envious of their route because I returned stateside and became a mom. But I'm currently in a stable job so I guess it turned ok for me.

Peace Corps has a lot of issues but the budget is so small it is silly to cut the program. Makes sense that they would try to kill an idealistic Kennedy-era program for do-gooders.

The Wilson Center was just eliminated. The Peace Corps is another easy target for DOGE.

This is precisely what is going on.

I'd rather fund the Peace Corp with my tax money rather than have the DOGE kids big salaries and Elon a tax break.

I’m a RPCV, as are most of my now unemployed colleagues. We were in international public health, and maybe 80% of people in our field are RPCVs. I will be so sad to see it decapitated, in particular as it comes right on the heels of all of us losing our careers.
