It depends on your gear, really. I grew up in a cold country, and the camping gear was built for snow and ice.

But if you bought run-of-the-mill stuff, then you don't want a predawn temp of less than 60F, in my opinion.

51-74 is perfect.
NO CHANCE of rain.

I keep notes on our campfire temps. 74+ can be fine too, but you don’t want to be out when it’s too hot.

51 is doable without wind. Not below this though.

What would be the perfect, “Goldilocks” temperatures for comfortable camping? We’d prefer not to be too cold, but don’t want to be roasting. Ideally, we’d like to go before summer, but don’t want to be freezing cold overnight. Also, don’t want to have to buy any special equipment to create the perfect conditions inside the tent.

What daytime/overnight temps do you think would be ideal?

It's not so much the temperature as the humidity levels. The dryer the better.

Any hotter or colder, we don’t find comfortable with the gear we have.

+1

Our kids are in Scouts so we camp a lot. March through May and October through December is reliably nice camping weather. June and September are iffy. July/August is miserable around here and you absolutely need special gear for January and February. Because we have that gear, we usually use it in November, December, and March, but it’s not necessary.

Humidity matters too. Many people can sleep comfortably in a 70 degree air conditioned house because the HVAC is making the house dry. Sixty-five and very humid would not be nice.

low of 60 at night. 50s if you have blankets and jackets.

Because the low overnight temp will be there in the morning when you get up, too. if that makes sense.
