Brandi Carlile has a couple of get togethers at resorts on land that are similar to these cruises. I'm very tempted to go once we have a little bit more money in the bank.

I have seen it! And it was glorious with his beautiful hair blowing around. I went on the 70s Rock and romance cruise twice a few years ago with my mom and it was really fun! Styx, America, foreigner, Michael McDonald, just tons of old bands that were really fun and a bunch of people in their 60s-70s. I felt like a novelty being under 40! It’s true the band members hang out and are truly cool to fans. Although I didn’t see Styx in the buffet line, lol. I did hang out with foreigners drummer and he gave me sticks for my mom and I hung out with the members of War and met Michael McDonald. I grew up with this music and it was just precious memories for me and my mom. I’d go again but I got terrible land sickness or whatever it is you get when you return back to shore and stay dizzy for days.

Honestly it does not sound like a good time to me, but obviously there’s a big audience for this kind of thing.

Love it! Never been but would do that one and the New Kids on the Block cruise!

My friend just went on the 80s cruise and one of the band members girlfriends jumped and is presumed dead.

They don't. I've gone on ones with slightly lesser-known bands and most absolutely love it (with the exception of those that get seasick and don't ever come back).
They mingle with fans and show up to watch other bands play. Many bring their families, which they can do more easily than when on tour.

This will definitely be on my list to do - I would love to see Isaac Brock in the buffet line.

For any fans of the moody blues - Justin Hayward’s The Blues Cruise is a good one.

A friend was very into 311 back in the day and she goes on the 311 cruise every few years to catch up with friends in that community. The band plays a bunch, but they also have tons of other acts on board. It’s definitely music heavy and a party atmosphere. The headliners stay in VIP areas but you’ll see other acts on the buffet line with everyone else.

JamCruise is tradition at this point. There are acts that go on it every year (and some bring their families).

There's a nice community on the boat because everyone has been seeing these acts for decades.

They get a free vacation (probably in a fancy suite) plus they get paid.

It’s a win-win.

I am in S Fla and I have always wanted to go on a music cruise 70s 80s or classic rock, even though it has that tacky cruise ship element.
Must admit I am surprised/shocked at the new cruises offered including:
Ice Cream Floats with Modest Mouse, Kurt Vile, Portugal the Man..
Rock Legends Cruise with Blue Oyster Cult
(Styx just played)

Is this what happens to bands as they age to sign up for this? Does their stage just get smaller? These bands can still pack venues so it must pay well.
