Went in late April a few years ago. Gorgeous, but rainy/windy/chilly. I love Amsterdam so the trip overall was worth it for me.

For someone who does not know how to ride a bike, how would we explore the country side? My husband and 1 kid could go together for the tulip route from keukenhof, but I'm wodering what me and my other kid would do in the meantime. I have been looking to see if there is any tour that involves a car going from Lisse along the tulip route, but couldn't find any

Best way to explore the Netherlands is by train -- and by bicycle. Rent a few bikes for a half day, it's a great experience. Around the Keukenhof or really anyway else in the countryside.

I loved it but went as part of a longer trip im Belgium and the Netherlands. I think it’s much nicer than Brookside Gardens but ymmv

I love Keukenhof Gardens, and have tried for years to get back there to show it to the kids, but I break my foot, or spring break falls outside of the opening times, or some other obstruction. Maybe one day…. Highly recommend.

It’s nothing like Brookside Gardens.

OP here. Thats the feeling I got when I saw the youtube videos. It didn't look any different from another Botanical garden, lets say Brookside gardens in the Spring. I think I would be more interested in visiting tulip farms but unfortunately I don't bike and those are covered by biking.

We went last year over our children’s spring break as we all loved it. We did Anne Frank museum, Keukenhof, Van Gogh museum and another day trip and it was a great week in Amsterdam.

Be prepared for Dutch weather. It is often cold, very windy and rainy. Even in the summer.

Seeing those wonderful sunny days in IG photos is not the norm.

So I have some Dutch family. I would only go if it's part of a bigger trip. It can get super crowded which can affect the experience. It's cool no question but it's not terribly different from visiting a botanical garden or the cherry blossoms here in the US. Now I do think the Netherlands has a lot to offer as a destination, I always have a great time there. Just understand it's a busy time and plan accordingly.

Anyone been? Is it worth the hype to plan a trip around the time it is open?
