I think, though, that they're aiming to do most of the RIF type work by about that date, anyway. So it will likely slow down, but not because of the departure.
Or in other words, this administration has been using Musk to do most of the dirty work, and when he leaves because he's become too much of a political liability and everyone hates him... most of the cuts will have been done already. All that remains will be picking up the pieces and making it functional again (which means re-hiring some people!). This is the province of seasoned government workers, not childish billionaires who think that chainsaws make them look like big boys.
