Any stand-out campuses where a Republican student would feel comfortable being herself?
Private: W&L, Richmond, Bucknell, Wake
Every flagship state school in the Mid Atlantic will have plenty of Republicans and an active College Republicans chapter, even if the overall campus leans left. UVA, UMD, UNC, NCSt, VT, UDel - take your pick.
Anonymous wrote:Republican MAGA or Republican conventional conservative? These days you need to clarify. For example, my kid is at WM and although the campus leans left, College Republicans have a decent presence and are respected by the rest of the student body. And the WM protest movement is small, but College Republicans do protest and counter protest. But it’s class conservatism. MAGA not so much.
Don’t have a kid at UVA, but have to think it’s similar. Wake alum and know that classic conservatism is well represented but MAGA is not so much. (And heck,, another of my kids went to Oberlin. Would not recommend for a College Republican, because they would eyeroll their way through the strong trans rights, but they had a fairly active College Republicans chapter and they were respected by other students, because respecting others and their opinions is a core college value. MAGA was safe and could express values that ran counter to 95% of students. And we’re widely accepted in the City of Oberlin, where people called my kid a fa##ot in the grocery store. But they were definitely odd man out on a campus.
Most decent colleges have College Republicans and most kids will respect them. If they are classic conservatives. MAGA is a harder lift in the T50 and top LACs. You may want to think SEC or similar.

That's the only visible activity the College Republicans do at our local selective university.
It's very Boebert-esque.
Mentioning this because it's not enough to have a chapter, it matters what the chapter does.
