Your Lexus will probably be fine for a long time but I encourage you to go ahead and replace it with a new car if you have the money. New cars are fun.

10 yrs and 100k miles means you are way below average miles per year for this area. With regular maintenance, that vehicle should last you at least another 50k miles at your current rate. Get rid of it if it starts to cost a lot to maintain or if you lose confidence in its safety.

I drive my car until it costs more to fix it than it is worth. No matter how many miles are on it. My car is 7 years old but does not have 100k on it. DH’s car is 17 years old and has over 100k.

A reliable used car is, in my mind, worth a lot more to me than the blue book value.

It depends on the brand. If it's Mercedes or BMW, get rid of it way before 100k miles. For Honda, Toyota or their luxury brands, Lexus and Acura, 100k miles is nothing.

100k miles isn’t the threshold like in the old days. (I’m old too). Engines of quality cars, like your Lexus, can last much longer with the required maintenance.

I grew up with Toyotas that all lasted until 200,000 or more (and my parents weren't amazing about maintenance or anything). To me 200K is a baseline of how long you should keep your cars.

The 100,000 mile mark is significant to me because I grew up poor and we always had cheap American made cars. In my mind, cars aren’t reliable after 100,000 miles. We have three cars today, all foreign made but two have over 100,000 and I have to constantly remind myself it is OK.

The Pilot I sold at just over 200k and I have a CRV now with just over 100k with no plans to sell. It’s got no issues, will need brakes soon but that’s it.
If you have a Lexus it should last a lot longer than 100k

I do. I have one with 220k and another with 175k. Both running fine.

My Lexus GX SUV just hit 100k miles at 10 years old. I did the big service, but am now wondering if I should be looking for a new car since it has reached the 100k mile mark.
