My recently deceased father had a nice condo on Dearborn across from the Racquet Club (where he belonged). Married to his second wife with no kids around, the Gold Coast was a better fit for him. Office was in the top office floor of the Aon Building so a close commute. With any kids around Lincoln Park would have made more sense. He always had Shar Pei dogs which kept him company as he aged but these strange dogs were bred to guard burial tombs and would spend large amounts of the day buried under the couch in the dark. So no need for more space in Lincoln Park. The dogs over the years were no trivial matter. Chicago Latin is down the block and the dogs would be walked as school let out. The kids would go nuts over the yoda like creatures. The breed has an iffy reputation but his breeder produced the gentlest and sweetest dogs. It gave a stuffy place a sense of community.
Gold Coast properties typically require expensive maintenance. Older with plaster walls (quiet but expensive to fix). something to consider.,I remember my father getting on an 18 month list for a plasterer.
