Agree that it’s not a big deal. The enrollment people have seen all kinds of stuff. They just want you to let them know when you are sure, so they can offer the seat to the next person. Obviously the kindest thing to do for them and the next family to decide asap but it’s just part of how this system works that people enroll and then sometimes a different plan ends up presenting itself.

I the olden days (Before consolidated lottery) people used to accept multiple seats for PreK. Then you had what was the Sept Shuffle - that schools realized you were not showing up and lots of kids moved the 1st 2 weeks of school.

Do not sweat this. Take the spot and take your time to do what you need to do for your family.

Totally fine. I assume this is for a kid who doesn't go to a DCPS/DCPCS right now? Just in case that's not the case, I'd remind you that by enrolling you will lose your spot in your existing DCPS/DCPCS and will be unable to get it back if you change your mind.

Many people drop out even several weeks into the school year. Don't worry about it, as long as you notify the school as soon as you are sure that you will not be attending.
