Our (public) school won’t even send lice notifications. Parents have started notifying each other anonymously via this site: https://tinyurl.com/23xmmem2. It has helped raise awareness and spread treatment/prevention best practices.

Yep, about two years ago we had lice.
My dd wanted to keep some alive for a science fair project and that was a hard NO, but we did literally pour a few different Lice shampoos on them in jars. NOTHING killed those little fools.

Terrible. I made my daughters go to elementary school with their hair braided and/or pulled well back (half-ups not enough -- I mean pulled back into more than a pony-tail) for years to prevent lice. That seemed to be the best prevention for us.

Exactly. Good combing is the key, not drugs.

Very old world LOL. This is how life was handled by my middle eastern grandparents. This may end up being a legit side gig for you pp, considering how things are going.

My kid had lice earlier this school year. A chemical treatment did nothing. We went to Lice Clinics of America and they took care of it. So much better than trying to get my husband to check me (dubious) and me trying to get nits of my daughter's thick, waist-length hair.

The key to getting rid of lice is a proper comb-out, done multiple times over a week. It takes practice to master but is not difficult.

My child has had lice several times (not recently thankfully), so I’m a pro at this, even with DD having long curly hair. I use zero drugs/special shampoos/oils/etc. A lice comb is all I need.
