I’m in the US but also am concerned that the shots won’t be available soon, isn’t that what I keep reading? I am worried to start, and then have to go off the shots (my understanding is you gain the weight right back, but I don’t understand why that happens if you just vow to keep your intake lower).

Well you clearly aren't capable of that since you need the shots in the first place.

DP and I disagree with you. After 50 years of being at healthy and fit weight, I put on 25 pounds during the pandemic (got out of my gym habit, was around the house to snack more, etc) and combine that with menopause and I haven’t been able to shed more than a few pounds even though I’ve for several years now resumed regular exercise and good eating habits. I’m confident that if I were able to lose 25 lbs using glp-1, I’d be able to maintain healthy eating and fitness.

My regular eating is OMAD. I 48 HOUR fasts every other week. I did few 36 hours and felt like I could I push my self further. I really.like the 48 hour fasts. Rhe clarity kicks in around hour 42. Trying to move to a 60 hour fast in May. The first time I did a 48, i thought I would die at hour 34, but I pushed through. I like the sense of control. Good Luck!

"Starving yourself"?
The obesity rate in the USA is unfathomable. Nobody here starves.

People who don’t eat for 36 hours…are starving themselves

Don't buy into the "you must consooom 3 meals a day" propaganda. That just releases more insulin and helps you gain weight more easily.

Being in ketosis is not "starving" oneself. To be "starving" you must be malnourished, which requires repeatedly making poor eating habit and dietary intake decisions.

I’m did this once a few years ago. It is doable and after awhile it is not hard…maybe after 18 hrs or so?

Sounds miserable. I couldn't do it, but if you can, more power to you and I hope you are successful. I truly think anyone who wants to lose weight should take the shots. I wanted to lose 15 lbs and couldn't do it - every time I tried, I just became so overwhelmed by hunger that I'd give up. Started Zepbound three months ago and down 16 lbs with NO hunger. I feel absolutely amazing. I didn't count calories...just ate three healthy (albeit smallish) meals per day. Of course, my mind had always known that this is what I needed to do to lose weight, but my body specifically my ravenous, growling stomach, wouldn't let me.

I’m worried about you, op! I would worry about fainting, not being able to function at work, or driving your kids safely.

Do you have an exit plan if you aren’t feeling well?

OMAD stands for one meal a day. It’s essentially eating 1000-1200 cals over the course of an hour instead of all day. For many of us, myself included, it is more satisfying to eat one big meal than 3 smaller ones.

As to your other question, I think it’ll kickstart weight loss because it ensures I will achieve a caloric deficit for the week. Counting calories is really error-prone, and margins for success are thin. Plus, I’d rather feel deprived for one day that constantly deprived all the time.

I’m embarking on my first 36-hour fast today. I’ve done IF in the past, and some OMAD, but I think I need a longer fast to kickstart weight loss.

Anyone BTDT? I could use all the words of encouragement!
