Not the PP you're responding to But presumably the PP got money to repair the damage, then just took the money and didn't repair the car.
Is that fraud? The insurance paid the cost to the car back to its condition before the accident. If the owner chose to keep it in its busted post-accident condition and keep the money, that seems like it’s up to them. They’re entitled to the value of the repair, are they actually required to get the repair done?

It depends. How many different panels are we talking about? How often are new dings being added? How much longer will I be keeping the car? Will it be passed down to a younger kid when they’re a new driver?

I'm not entirely sure what you mean. "dings from new driver?" If the new driver is your kid and they are still driving the car, then I definitely wouldn't fix the dings since there are probably more to come.

I don’t because I just don’t care. I am so not a car person. If it runs I’m fine. 2018 BMW with lots of dings. Definitely not for my kids car which is parked in the HS parking lot during the day. Awful drivers.

Avoid the big auto body shops and you can get a deal. First, tell them you don’t need a “perfect” paint job because it’s your kid’s car. Once they give you a price, offer cash. Of course you aren’t going thru insurance with this approach.

I fixed the mirror and a big dent from someone hitting my front passenger door. But their insurance paid. Otherwise, no. I think the drivers in my neighborhood give me extra space because they can easily see I just don’t care.

But like minor bumper dents and scratches? Eh, we live in the city and park on the street. No point in fixing because it will happen again. If I cared that much, I'd get a bumper cover or something.

Really depends on the extent. Surface scrape on a bumper/corner - no. Same with door dings. Anything more - yes, and I’d expect whomever the driver was to contribute.
