That's when you move their mats.

At Onelife people go straight from the cycle class to yoga but show up 5-10 minutes late. Instructor doesn’t seem to mind but I think it’s rude. Especially when they leave the cycle class, put their mats down and go back to cycle.

One of the problems is when instructors don’t respect safety rules because they have a need to be liked.

Support your instructors. Let the manager you support the instructors in enforcing the rules. Don't let the few rude outnumber the silent majority. Be a loud majority.

This drives me up the wall.

That, and the perfume/cologne wearing people.

This is not new. Everything you described is why I stopped going to the gym circa 2016.

I have a Peloton and free weights and have happily worked out at home since.

This would not happen at my gym.

Yes, I see this at my gym (JCC). SO rude. I go to a variety of classes (yoga, strength training, cardio) and people come in late to everything and then squeeze into a spot and it's disruptive - sometimes 20-30 minutes late to a 50 min class! I agree the instructor should not allow.

It's March. Still a bit of the NY resolutions amateur hour situation at the gym.

But I think that people are just less thoughtful everywhere these days, and so you see it in the gym.

My gripe is the three woman in my Friday morning class that chat through about 50% of the time. So distracting and I really don't want to know.. The instructor tries to stop it in the kindest way but it does not work.

This is your gym’s fault, OP. I’ve never seen an instructor assist a latecomer adjust their bike. My gym won’t let you in if you don’t arrive at least 5 minutes before class starts.

I don’t mind people leaving early.

You can’t enter a class if you’re more than 5 minutes late at my gym. I love that.

I don’t mind people leaving early as long as they slip out quietly.

The instructors need to enforce the rules.

I notice the same thing. Is it as if all civility went out the window. Not sure if it is post-Covid, new administration is so depressing people stopped caring, or something else.

Are other people seeing this? My gym seems so crowded these days and so many people seem to think it's okay to show up 15 minutes late to spin class but then require instructor help to set up the bike. Or arrive 30 minutes late to yoga and then ask people doing the class to make a space (even though designated spaces are marked on the floor). Or leave during savasana. I swear half my spin class today left before the actual end. And during class at least three people were playing on phones and two others leaving early carried on a conversation while the instructor was talking. Am I getting crabby? Has something changed? How are people not aware of rude/distractive behaviors like these?
