They're also making a push to get a closer middle school feeder option - see this petition. The group of parents involved seems really motivated.

Can we get back to the original intent of the post?

I too am looking for feedback.

That’s how much we believe in the future of this school.

You believe in the school so much that you decided to take your chances and lottery into OA?

The lottery is low stakes. You can submit an application and see what happens and think about what your choice will be while it plays out. I did it, too, even though we're really happy with our school at this moment. Why not see what options you may have and then make a fully-informed decision once the results come out? Seeing what your options might be doesn't mean you don't like and believe in your current school.

I think you need a little more data about OP to reach this conclusion

How is it academically in English? I feel like it’s subpar.

Already reenrolled for PK4. One thing to be aware of is they have modernization coming up - not next year, but the two years following. Likely spot is the Spingarn campus that J.O. Wilson is in now. But if we continue to be happy with the school we're likely to stick it out. Our kid is doing great.

We're there now for PK3 and reenrolling for PK4. We've loved the school. Principal is great. After care provider is great. Love being able to walk to school.

Who knows on the modernization q, though. Looking at other schools that have recently modernized (or are about to) might give some insight into whether there's a decrease in numbers during modernization years. JO Wilson is under modernization now. Maybe also keep an eye on Brent and what their numbers look like - they start the modernization process next year so this should be the first lottery where you see any impacts on modernization. But Brent got a particularly bad draw on a temporary relocation site (they'll be up in Columbia Heights, a long bus ride for small kids); from how it's shaping up for Chisholm they'll be in the closer spot currently occupied by JO Wilson (Spingarn).
