Making up the work isn’t an issue at all. The issue is whether she can make it up before the end of the marking period, and if she can’t (unlikely) then whether the work is listed as missing or zero.
Do you know what happens at the end of the marking period? Also who asks for the doctors note?

Personally, I’d take the 50% and a B, call it good enough, and get on top of 4th quarter from the start. Kids sometimes spend too much effort making up 3rd quarter work and then miss critical 4th quarter start and tank 4th qtr.

I would email the guidance counselor and attendance officer right now.
