Abby Wambach said in a podcast that she handed up lollipops to parents on the sidelines of her kids' soccer games. Which I thought was a nice say to say keep your mouth busy

Soccer dads are the worst—especially the ones who played sports in high school or college and now have a daughter on the field.

We had a dad who did this. The team manager asked him to stop. The dad threatened him physically and with a lawsuit. The coach had to ban him from all future games or his kid was off the team. So very DC!

Tell him directly. But it should come directly from the coach first and foremost.

Additionally, another coach said something like: Please do not coach from the sidelines. At times we may be working with your athlete on a particular skill for their development. Your commentary to the players may conflict with what we are asking them to do.

THEN we had a coach send out something that said "We've had a hard time reviewing the Veo recordings as a team, with the constant yelling from parents on the sideline which is captured on the video. As mentioned..."

Op- The coach did send an email asking parents not to coach from the sideline, but it seemed like a generic template from the club rather than a direct message from the coach.

My DD played on a team a couple years back who had a dad like this. I politely told him to please stop “coaching” my kid during games. It resulted in him reverting back to just yelling at his own kid.

There’s a parent on our team who constantly coaches from the sideline, and it’s becoming really frustrating. It started with him yelling instructions at his own kid, but now he’s acting like a second coach—shouting players’ names and giving them directions during the game. Sometimes, his instructions even contradict what the actual coach has told the kids, which just confuses them.

Our coach is too nice to say anything, so this has been going on unchecked. I’ve told my child to ignore him, but it’s still annoying.

Should I bring this up with the coach, or should I address it directly with the parent?
