Workplace child of divorce when you are caught between your boss and their boss. This is always the worst because the quality employee gets the shrapnel while the other two duke it out. It’s like all rational goes out the window and they burn it all down just to be right. This is how you lose good people. Too much work to do for this distracting nonsense.

Police dispatcher: hardest part is being polite to the entitled public.
I get through it by getting on well with my coworkers. It makes a difference.

Another teacher.

The nonstop grading and paperwork. I spend all weekend either working or feeling guilty for not working.

And, agreeing with the posters above, I also find the sense of entitlement exhausting. The demands students and parents make will probably be what drives me from this profession.

The work environment is very overstimulating. I dint realize it until I leave school and need to drive home in silence. I’m an introvert so teaching is not a good fit although I do love my students and seeing their growth. Yesterday they finished a test and I just let them color for 15 minutes while listening to music. It was awesome. I don’t know how much longer I can do this.

I’m a principal.

Same. The entitlement is beyond comprehension. And the anxiety doesn’t help. The parents are not okay.

My main job is super easy. No issues there. Top performer.

But we are required to take on side projects. The one I chose interested me but I had no background with it. I thought it would be a good area to learn new skills. It became apparent though they are looking for professional quality work, so it is not a good fit for a beginner. Unfortunately the commitment is 1 year so it's been stressful when working on it. The mismatch in expectations and my work output has affected how some management views me. Fortunately the 1 year is almost over and I have signed up for a different project that is not expanding new skills but where I feel I can excel.

I've posted before, I work at an org that supports children, and dealing with entitled parents is the worst. However, coworkers who don't do their jobs, or require constant followup to make sure they do their jobs, is a close second, followed by the person in charge not firing those who don't do their jobs is a very close third

I have a really grumpy grand boss who is unpredictable. Sometimes he supports me and says all good things about me. Sometimes he screams at me and insults for things outside of my control. I never know who he'll be at any moment.

Legal secretary. Hardest part is when I submit expenses to Accounting for a specific guy - the Acctg guy always drives me crazy having something wrong with them. Every. Single. Time.

I now handle it by ignoring his emails.

What do you do, what is the hardest part of your job, and how do you handle it?

For me, it’s that my job is boring. I handle it by listening to music.
