Personally I have found both of those to be almost worthless - people tend to focus on random things, not the quality of food, etc. Google Maps ratings are more consistent with actual restaurant quality IME.

In my expensive those mass review sites are most helpful in places with way fewer options. In a city the map is just a sea of restaurants and it is also hard to tell which may be real or not.

Targeted suggestions of a small number of spots to check out is exactly what I needed. Thanks to other PPs for sharing.

My favorite restaurant in San Francisco (and honestly, one of my favorite restuarants in the world) is Zuni Cafe on Market Street. It's been there for 40 years and it's alway great.

Agreed on North Beach- nice walk. Good list of options here. Eater is excellent for this type of question IMO.

I've only been to SF 2x for work trips. Both trips we ate at Cafe Sport for Italian. One of my coworkers has been going here for over 50 years and I agree it is great.

The idea of hopping on a cable car to go to dinner is so… quaint. It sounds like you’ll be happier sticking to touristy areas and restaurants. North Beach isn’t too far from where you’ll be staying and has both Italian and seafood. Get the cioppino.

We're staying in the Fisherman's Wharf area but would rather hop on a cable car to head to another neighborhood for dinner. It will be our last one in SF and on a Friday night.

Cuisines - Italian or Seafood probably. I was originally thinking Chinatown but i've seen some posts on here indicating that's not a really good spot to go for dinner.

Gotta narrow it down a bit- neighborhood and cuisine.

We'll be there for 2 days over spring break with 2 teens. Any suggestions for good places to eat? (Not $$$ but $$ ideally).
