And PP, why egg or milk based? I feel less sluggish when I take veg-based protein powder (Orgain).

Those are garbage to begin with, and full of toxic chemicals from pesticides and Roundup.

But if you have a mental issue with eating animal protein, then by all means plant is better than nothing.

Whey is the most commonly found now, due to popularity with bodybuilding, but whey is higher glycemic and if you want an end of the day shake then egg or casein will be best, but whey is fine also if you have it with a meal.

Main thing to avoid are the artificial sweeteners in most of them, such as Sucralose and Stevia. Most flavors will have a fake sweetener. Just check the ingredients of any potential ones you are looking at to be sure it doesn't.

If you want a recommendation, then look at the "Naked" line of products, such as "Naked Egg" or "Naked Whey" and get a "natural" one, that means unflavored and unsweetened.

Thank you for this detailed info. Maybe I should pick a different final boost of protein then bc I am pre-diabetic so need to be careful in that regard, maybe just a couple of hard boiled eggs.

Then definitely go with the egg protein powder. "Naked Egg" is a good one without the sweeteners if you get the plain natural flavor.

Fake sweeteners will also affect your insulin and insulin sensitivity, so avoid them.

2 boiled eggs is only around 12 grams of protein, less than half the average scoop of protein powder. You will get tired of eating eggs that much.

I like Core Power. For some reason, Premier Protein and Trutein give me palpitations.

I like the Fairlife protein shakes. They taste good and have 5 g of sugar. They are 4-5 points though. Vanilla comes up as 4 and chocolate as 5 on the app.

I’m trying to lose weight and recently started Weight Watchers. Tracking my food intake and choices has been very eye opening. I’m not getting enough protein for one thing (I work out regularly including light weight lifting).

I’m trying to increase protein throughout the day, but some days I get to the end and haven’t had very much protein, so I am thinkingl drinking a protein shake around 8pm could be one last burst of protein for the day.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a protein powder that is relatively healthy and not overloaded with sugars.

Thank you.
