I’m surprised to see Virginia has lower fund than 50 states

Alexandria decided not to raise.

Husband can get a minimum wage job in DC to pay for the hike.

See if you can contest your real estate assessment based on facts.

Get your assessment lowered, pay less.

The issue for us was inflation. We aren't rich, but were fine pre-2021.

Again, this is your failure to plan. You are rich if you live there.

There's tons of consultants looking for work- couldn't we hire some to find ways to cut FCPS spending without affecting classroom teacher jobs and pay? I think a ton of the FCPS budget is NOT spent on classroom teachers, their supplies, or building schools. Shouldn't we check what's going on?

Taxes go up even without rate increases. Correct. So they already get more and more every year.

Yes, and commercial real estate is down, inflation is up and everyone still wants them to do things. And FCPS wants the biggest transfer ever. The county has proposed 60 million in cuts and this board is full of people whining about those cuts.

Last I checked, taxes collected from commercial real estate were not down.

The pitch I heard though. I think it's a play on words to justify. Just because commercial vacancies are up doesn't mean taxes collected decreased. I checked a few months ago. They did not decrease last I checked.

Next year, FCPS will ask for an even bigger transfer.

Then cut spending. Or, just kick the laid off feds while they are down.

DH lost his job. We cannot afford higher property taxes in Fairfax County. My bill already increased $300/month this year. How can our elected officials even consider doing this to a population facing mass terminations now? While feigning caring about people losing their jobs. Do you even? This is markedly tone deaf.
