House, three neighbors directly next to us are disrespectful to our property and horrible.

Apartment weed smoke is unbearable as is the horrid cooking smells, the yelling and screaming and loud music.

Weed smokers in the back. All our bedroom windows fave the back. So between pot smell and them hanging out talking and playing music till late, we can't keepmqondows open. Neighbors to one side are fine and friendly. Neighbors on the other side don't acknowledge us and keep to themselves.

You first Op

We’re in TH’s. In our section of 5, we have our family; a late 40s married couple no kids who inherited the home from one of their late parents and never seem to go outside or leave to go anywhere; an empty nester couple with college age kids who are very nice and their kids are nice and overall respectful as well; late 20s renters who have been there since graduating college and throw loud parties a few times a year but are overall fine; and a family with 3 ES girls where the oldest (6th grade) is a sneaky liar who steals stuff out of yards and garages on the whole street, but I feel like she wouldn’t need to do that if her very middle class professional parents would just buy her a damn bike and a few other outdoor toys to play with. So pretty typical mixed bag honestly. It was worse when we first moved here ~12 years ago, but the neighborhood has changed/improved since then as other nearby areas became too expensive.

I’m in a low key quiet burb. They are all fine to very good aside from one family whose dog killed two strays out block fed. I don’t even look in their direction if I see them, that dog is trouble and escaped too many times. My pet peeves nobody in my current location engages in are: really gross or neglected yard, outdoor clutter, really loud on a regular basis, fast driving down the street, Airbnb bullshit.

SFH. Suburban development of late 1960s homes - same house for 20 years. Complete turnover now 2 cycles. When we bought, multiple original owners still remained. I think there are now 2.

Relevant because we went from moving in at the wave of similar aged young families and a full school bus with ES kids. Yes, we all knew each other through school and sports. Now the families like us who remain are empty nesters.

One renter lives next door. We text ICE (can you grab a package? It’s raining! Or, can you bring our trash cans in?) Other neighbor more of same but we trade house keys and relevant info (tree workers might be working in early a.m./we are gone for the weekend FYI).

No socializing. Maybe annual block party but admittedly don’t enjoy w/o kids.

Problems are: dogs (one neighbor’s dog is always bolting out the door and literally chasing cars, trotting around everyone’s yards) and just as bad or worse, dogs on extended leashes who get walked over, across and around everyone’s -ESPECIALLY OURS yards. I mean so close that I routinely would scoop poop from a few steps from my porch!( We have never had a dog.)

I’ve PP in related threads but this I don’t understand: why, all of a sudden, it seems that
dog owners allow their leashed dogs to urinate and defecate all over other people’s lawns. All ages owners/dog breeds/not just in my neighborhood. We have a newer camera and several neighbors have caught and shamed scofflaws. I got a very nice keep off the grass sign that seems to help. Infuriating and outrageous - so disrespectful, gross and entitled. We also have a nice pocket park that sits unused (never seen a dog get walked there) and within sight of our house. Why then do the neighbors go down private driveways and let their dogs poop all over the place?

Live in an apartment. Never communicate with any of them. Don't know them, couldn't pick any out of a lineup. I dislike the guy who sprays half a bottle of cologne because the scent seeps into my apartment, and dislike my next door neighbors because one time when I was very very sick and coughing through the night they banged on the wall, fake-coughed and then laughed. Of course I didn't want to be coughing and had taken medicine! But their aggression made me scared.

On one side:
Likes: Quiet, respectful, keep vehicles parked in front of their own property
Dislikes: Let house fall into a state of disrepair...when they finally went to sell it they tanked neighborhood property values because they literally had rodents in walls and holes in floors.

On the other side they are literally our best friends. Our kids are the same age and we get together for bbqs and firepits and help carpool when needed. I can't imagine a better scenario. Only downside is our dogs fence fight so we have to be careful to check before letting ours out.
