Do any Puerto Rico resorts have connecting rooms? We’re looking at Conquistador mainly because of the 2BR/2BA casitas.

We loved it too. Haven’t done the other two but our stay at Grand Rio Mar was amazing.

We were just there and we didn’t even notice it. The only annoying part is the water slide is also under construction.

My husband was just there for a week for “work” and he didn’t mention construction so I assume it’s not a huge issue?

Wow, Wyndham seems to be the hands down winner of the two. Thanks! Still open to other opinions, if anyone who has stayed at the Hyatt stops by this post.

The other two hotels mentioned aren't quite in the area we're interested in (and the Ritz is out of our price range), but appreciate the suggestions!

Have you considered the Ritz Carlton Dorado Reserve?

We liked the Wyndham. The only downside is that the waves at the beach can be rough but I think that’s true of many beaches there. But the beach is lovely and the pools are rooms are very nice. There is also a really good pastry and sandwich shop at the turn off from main road so we picked up snacks there. And a car rental place on property so we were able to rent a car just for one day to do some driving around.

Wyndham is great - beach is beautiful and not crowded, restaurants are better than we expected.

The Wyndham is better than the Hyatt, just based on the beach, proximity to El Yunque, better restaurants, etc.

Starting to plan a trip to Puerto Rico for two adults, one 11 year old. These two hotels are fairly close to each other and in the general area we'd like to stay, prefer ocean view/ocean front if possible. Any opinions, pros/cons of each?

Wyndham Grand Rio Mar (looks like they have some renovated rooms?)
Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve

The St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort is also in the area, but looks 2-3x the price of the other hotels so likely out of our price range.
