Bologna is my personal favorite city in Italy (Parma too). The food, art, people. Bologna is well worth a visit.

Bologna is known for food. I also really liked Verona. You could also go way North - like 2-3 hour drive and end up in foothills of Dolomites (italian alps) - they are INSANE and hiking is very easy and it's just stunning.

This is op. I have been to Italy before and have never been there. I googled it and it has amazing architecture and food! Thought it was not a touristy place. It just sounds really awesome. Also, relatively close to Lake Como.

Have you been to Italy before?

What specifically about Bologna interests you?

Nothing specific although history and food would be great!

There are lots of places a similar distance from Como. Anything specific you want to prioritize? Museums, food, history, etc.

We have a wedding in Lake Como this fall and want to make a vacation out of it. Thinking about going to Bologna from there. Has anyone done that or would love some suggestions. Thanks
