Subject: Charleston for spring break
Not sure when your break is, but through beginning of April there is the Charleston Open on Daniel Island and the Ravanel bridge run on the 5th
Mt Pleasant blessing of the fleet festival is April 27 (huge tradition, boat parade, live music)
Fishing charter or one that lets you hunt for fossilized shark teeth, kayaking, surfing
Tea at Camellia’s (all pink bar at Hotel Bennett) is a favorite for my daughter, the room is gorgeous
In addition to hockey, there’s Charleston Battery soccer games at Patriots Point or baseball (Riverdogs)
Make your own candle classes at Candlefish
Depending on when you arrive, Boone Hall has a strawberry festival in April (pick and eat berries, games, pig races, arts and crafts plus you could book a tour of the plantation itself)

If the Stingrays are still playing, minor league hockey is a blast. The Stingrays are the ECHL affiliate of the Capitals and play in North Charleston.

Where are you staying?
You could always rent a condo in Kiawah and just pop into the city one day, but make the trip more resorty. It won't be "beach warm" (probably) but if you rent through the resort you'll have access to the Night Heron pool, which is heated.
Also I think exploring the suburbs of Charleston can be fun. Mt Pleasant is super cute (eat at Post House Inn) with some great shopping, there's a trampoline park around there somewhere, and I love a day trip to Sullivan's Island -- eat at Obstinate Daughter.

Subject: Charleston for spring break
Everything blew up in the last few weeks - DH is deploying, our oldest is at college, our teen is on a different trip. It'll just be me and our 12-year-old trying to salvage our trip. No, we cannot change locations since everything is paid for. Tween DD is fairly sad about things and I want to make this awesome. Problem is, we've been to Charleston a few times. What are some lesser known fun things?
