Subject: I want to live in Ireland
Donegal.
We had a fantastic Airbnb there if you are interested. Great host who lived on site if you are cool with that. Nature centered there but could do a few day trips both North and South.

What? Every small town in Ireland I have ever visited is delightful and warm. Maybe it’s you.
I agree that the people are generally nice and hospitable. Just avoid being obnoxious, which is good advice anywhere except dcum.

Galway- nice size town but not too big, easy proximity to hiking, date trip to the Inisheer or Inismore islands.

I looked into this a few years ago and concluded that I would need a car which adds to the expense. I would go to Bundoran on the west coast in County Donegal. That where the Irish go for their holidays. You could rent a place within walking distance to the beach and shops. Your kids could do a surf camp and the side trips around the area are beautiful.

I usually go to North Carolina mountains with tbe kids for a few weeks and just live, if you know what I mean. Make our own meals, go for hikes in fresh air, swim in rivers , shop in new stores , visit new parks and talk to new people. No sightseeing or complicated agendas. This summer I want to do the same, but in Ireland. I have two girls 10 and 12. Where should I go/ stay? Nothing urban, but easy distance for taking the kids to activities.
