Kids of all ages need more mental health support, and we need more special ed teachers (pay them MORE for the increased workload with all the extra paperwork along with their regular teacher duties), and more discrete classrooms. LRE (least restrictive environment) has gone too far in the other direction, as many kids need smaller class size and extra attention.

Anonymous wrote:I work at a middle school and agree that if there is proof that someone threatens the school in any capacity, it should be automatic expulsion. I have had students bring guns and knives to school and they return from a 10 day out of school suspension. It is mind boggling to me.

Well, they did arrest the kid, and charged him as a juvenile. No word on whether he’ll be expelled on top of whatever sentence they give him.
