There's a lot of parts of government you don't hear about, but they ensure things work. You'll notice when they aren't there any longer.
The ONLY Americans who will notice the absence of the Institute of Museum and Library Services are the 70 people who work there (from home, it turns out, shocker).
That is ABSOLUTELY not true. They administer grants to museums and libraries across the country. For example, in FY24 they awarded $15 million in grants to Texas libraries, museums, and the state archives. I'm sure the nice red state of TX will be sad to see that money go away.

Wait, what’s the Institute of Museum and Library Services? At first it sounded like a Museum, or a Library, and I was like, outraged. But now I’m like, wait, how many work-from-home $100K bureaucrats does this “Institute” employ, and what do they do all day?
You know what? Now I’m pissed. Listen ti the action verbs this institute uses to describe its “actions.”
Frame, identify, advance, empower, champion, strengthen, address, incorporate, advance.
Uh, yeah, they don’t do anything. Without stealing taxpayer money, this would never exist. No customers would pay for it, no philanthropists would donate to it.
Prove me wrong! Take up a collection to help the Institute continue its important work as a private charity.
Libraries all over the country receive funding from this agency. You sound incredibly ignorant.
