You might be able to do better than $500 off MSRP. Not sure which Toyota you’re looking at but check Edmunds TMV price for the one you want. A quick check on RAV4 shows you should pay more than a $1k off MSRP easy.

People will always need cars. So, you can wait, but if tarrifs take place, it will cost you more. Used cars will become more expensive.

We’re having same discussion. Buy car now, before tariffs? Or wait because no one will buy a car later and dealer supply will increase, maybe causing them to want to get rid of inventory?

But before April. My Subaru dealer is increasing prices by $3k on most vehicles starting in April. They said they had their busiest Saturday in dealer history last weekend.
There are good deals on used EV’s.

Tesla's are going for bargain prices because they are not moving - some car dealerships are refusing to take them anymore. Not a fan of Elon, but trade ins will not benefit him.

Nissan is having corporate trouble. Maybe you'd get a deal on the Pathfinder.
Look at reliability data for the two models. Whatever is available. Pick the more reliable one.

am having this decision thrust upon me by an unexpected engine problem. I hate my Outback anyhow, but don't want to stupidly buy a new car if this is the worst time ever.
