No experience, but some advice: always test your drug strategy long before you need it on a plane. If you and your vet decide that this is an appropriate route, make sure they prescribe enough for a couple of tests. Give this to your pet when you have a "home day" and don't need to go anywhere so you can observe how they react. Then, if that goes well, take it for a test drive at a location where your dog might ordinarily react. Get a sense of how much this helps (if it does), and how long you can reasonably expect it to last.
I definitely wouldn't rely on new meds for the first time mid-flight!
