That's great. The committee must have seen past the teacher's biased assessment.

OP: You got a smattering of responses, sort of all over the place. While the HOPE score is important, there is more to it than just the bottom check boxes, so you need to consider the ratings on the 11 parameters on top as well. Since you didn't ask about the top part, I assume you are feeling more confident about those.

Also, we have another kid going through the evaluation for AAP now, and I'm not sure whether to bank on the older sibling's last year experience because it was the first time HOPE was employed and who knows if that had an effect on the results (i.e. the central screening committee members weren't 100% of how to treat the different "holistic" components). Sorry, it's not a more transparent process. I feel like I'm just as clueless as I was for child #1. Child #1 did have almost perfect test scores, though this is not true of my younger child. Both have similar HOPE ratings and check boxes and report cards.

DD had 3 checked last year- Reading, Math, and Writing. She only had one almost always and the rest of the areas were marked lower so I thought those weren't the best ratings, but she got in.

From what I've heard (mostly here), I do think it's important to excel in reading in addition to math or they might relegate the kid to advanced math.

Hi - I am assuming your DC got in?

Yes, DC in and doing well.

Be patient, you'll know in about a month.

I'm curious about the HOPE score. Did anyone from last year's cohort get accepted with minimal 'exceptional talent' subjects checked?

I'd also love to hear from those who did get accepted - how many 'exceptional talent' subjects did your child have checked off? Trying to gauge DC’s chances.
