In my first trimester I lost 10 lbs due to vomiting and nausea. My Dr said to eat whatever I wanted that I could keep down. It does not matter in the slightest what you eat at the beginning, and do not feel a moment’s guilt about it. You’ll feel better later on.

+1 My husband brought me a beautiful salad at the table one day and I gagged. Had to leave the room.

Smelling and preparing food was disgusting to me first trimester. It’s finally going away at 20 weeks. I can make a lasagna for dinner and it’s fine. It took a long time but it’s ok now! Don’t worry!

I'm only 8 weeks, but am having a similar aversion. Most days the idea of anything cooked absolutely disgusts me. I'm snacking on a lot of raw veggies (sometimes with a dip like hummus if I can stomach it), apples and peanut butter, and buttered bread. I made myself scrambled eggs with spinach one morning and could only stomach a bite or two before the gagging started. The advice my doctor gave me is to eat smaller snacks more often, do the best I can, and not to stress about it. Just find a way to stomach your prenatals and any calories you can keep down during the first trimester.

where do you live that there’s no healthy take-out? Most restaurants will cook a chicken breast and vegetables.

Honestly, when you’re in your first trimester with morning sickness, you’re in survival mode. Eat what you can keep down and make the healthiest choices you can. I’ve had two pregnancies and both were different in terms of cravings and revulsions.
Can someone else do the cooking at home? Also, you don’t have to eat formal “meals”. If yogurt and fruit sounds good to you, eat them. Let your partner fend for themselves.

I’m currently 11 weeks and ever since I was 6 weeks, I cannot eat any home cooked meals without feeling nauseous and wanting to gag afterwards. It probably has something to do with the smell and the texture.
This has resulted in me eating take out almost every night for dinner. I know it’s unhealthy and it’s such a big waste of money but I just can’t eat any meals cooked at home.
I feel SO bad and guilty about eating unhealthy meals and not providing good nutrients for my baby. I do try to eat fruits and nuts to balance it out and I am restricting what I eat for breakfast and lunch (I don’t have the appetite for it anyway).
I’m just hoping it goes away in the 2nd trimester! Had anyone else experienced this?
