I’ve been both directions depending on my options at the time. Once I went around the world (East one way, West home). I just see what is available.

That depends on the destination. When I am heading for Singapore, I fly to SFO and then take a non-stop SFO-SIN. I think there also is an option NYC-FRA-SIN, but we would rather not fly over Russia, Iran or the Middle East right now.

I should have been more clear. We'd like to visit 2-3 countries, open to East Asian, SE Asia, India. Just wondered whether most people fly direct from here to one of the big hubs like Tokyo or whether they might go through Europe or the ME. Have not been that far before, only to Europe and Central/South America before. Sorry for sounding ignorant and appreciate all the responses so far!

Asia is a continent not a country. What country are you trying to go to?

I like to stop in Middle East if I go to India.

Once in India, I travel to other Asian countries and European countries using touring companies based in India. You save a ton of money.

I prefer direct flights whenever possible. When I went to Shanghai I took a direct flight from Newark airport (easy to get to via Amtrak)

It’s a big continent. Are you going to Tokyo, Seoul or China? Or are you going to India, Oman or UAE? Lots of ways to get there, a lot depends on what part you’re planning to visit.

It is a big place. Are you sure you are up for this? You might want to stick with Myrtle Beach.

We are going to Japan in May non stop IAD to Tokyo

We only fly non stop if we can to anywhere in Asia. Two stops at most too exhausting to do more than that.

How did you get to Asia? We're happy to do stopovers in places and wondering how you planned your trip and what route you took.
