This is a valid concern.

Acadia is an amazing place. Plan ahead (crowds can be significant) and you'll have a great trip. If you're excited about it, go for it.

Yep. Or the Minnesota North Shore. Duluth is a surprisingly interesting and fun little city.

Michigan's Upper Peninsula. I went a few years ago with my college age son and it was incredible. The Calumet area has a lot of history. We went hiking in the porcupine mountains. I'm not an experienced kayaker so we did a kayaking tour with Pictured Rocks Cruises in Munising. It was a great tour!

I know you mentioned US because of only having a week, but we did a lot of the activities you mentioned in Cape Breton and I loved it there. You could easily do that if you flew.

Stay in Frisco, Breck, or Dillon - kayak, canoe, mountain bike, hike. It's so perfect!

New river gorge in WV has fabulous rafting and hiking.

Your ideas are both good. Traverse City Michigan could be another option.

Our favorite place is Acadia. We’ve also been to Seattle. Both are stunning in their own right. They are also different. Acadia is on a small island whereas Seattle is a huge city/area.

For you I’d suggest Acadia. It has so much you said you’d like to do outdoors. You will have a decent amount of time there and you can do a lot.

For Seattle, for the parameters you give, I would not go this time and here’s why: you only have a week and flights are 6 hours each way. Seattle is better visited in late summer like August. You’ll be more assured of better weather.

I’m looking for ideas for a June vacation with DH and our two college aged kids (b/g).

We like hiking and kayaking and swimming (but are not super adventurous). We love to be near any water. We like good food, not fancy but good. We like history and sightseeing. I’d like mild temps.

We visit my parents in Rehobeth every August so we’re not looking for a beach trip, like that type at least.

I’d probably like to keep our trip in the U.S. because we only have a week.

Bar Harbor and Seattle/ONP are two ideas I am kicking around (we’ve not been to either). I would love any suggestions. I realize my parameters are vague, I’m just starting to brainstorm.
