I’m always “skinny” after a night of drinking, but I know it’s dehydration. I’d wager you have some weird combination of alcohol dehydration mixed with salt based water retention/bloating. It’s temporary at least!

Salt hits DIFFERENT after 40, maybe late 30s.
I am 42 and was having this conversation with a colleague who is in her early 60s last week. We just back and forth were like "Salt." "Ugh." "Hmm..." "Nope." "Yeah." "Mmmhmm." "It's the salt."

Why not just allow yourself to enjoy your great evening out and not feel the need to obsess about what the scale says the next day to the point that you have to post on DCUM about it?
If you are consistent overall with your diet and workout routine, and indulge on occasion (as people should!) you should be able to maintain your weight without the daily angst. The number on the scale each day is not that important.

There is a reason water and milk are the #1 hangover cures. Must hydrate and get those electrolytes. Avoid Brawndo though, too much sugar.

Magnesium and potassium can help balance out the sodium and reduce bloating. I've found coconut water works well when I've had too much salt. There are also a lot of electrolyte drinks and mixes you can try.

totally the salt.
Drink a lot of water, eat *fairly* low carb, and get some sweating in.
You should be back to baseline in about 5 days.

Last night I had a great evening with some girlfriends, but it involved a lot of wine and salty food. I’ve been pretty strict with my diet and actually dropped 3lb within the last two weeks. I actively hydrated all evening, so I don’t think I’m dehydrated. I actually woke up feeling great and noticed I still looked “skinny” (relative term!) in spite of overindulging. But when I stepped on the scale, I was up almost 4lb, and then when I got dressed, despite what I SAW in the mirror (“skinny”), my clothes are very tight today. How does this make sense?
