I wouldn’t hesitate if I need “girly” programming but if the expense is significant, you can definitely get the vibes going for way less.

Tea, scones with cream and jam, a couple of cakes and sandwiches…… the absolute max I would pay would be $50 and only if in a very nice location. Your average tea shop this would be $20-$25.

To me, it's all about context. In the right place, like the Savoy, afternoon or high tea can be a nice treat. High tea differs from afternoon tea in that is has a savoury course served between the sandwiches and cakes and pastries.

$100 for a pot or 2 of tea and some tiny sandwiches and sweets.
Is it fancy and fun, Yes! Look for some in the $60 range.
Two people for $200, not worth it. I’d rather spend that elsewhere.

Haven't done that one but it's usually a nice setting with tea and sandwiches and cakes. Can't you just google high tea and see if it suits your taste? That's a lot of money for it but it's the experience more than the amount.

I think it's a nice thing to do with grandparents. If you would spend that to take them to brunch, think of it that way. It's not "worth it" in terms of the food.
