What School? You can appeal the decision. I know of a school that is “suspending” students by suggesting they stay home for a few days “to cool off” and not documenting anything.

The principals go after the kids they don't like. They've been doing it for years. In ES, they hold the kids in the office for days and don't tell the parents (did that to us and our child wasn't verbal enough to tell us and I only heard about it through another parent who worked at the school- kid liked the office staff so asked to stay longer).

It is carried through as stated. You can not issue a level 4 for skipping class (for example.) just like bringing a gun to school, the principal can not suggest a level 1 for that.

It’s intended to be escalating consequences within the given band. I don’t believe principals are supposed to go beyond the band.

I just used that as an example. Maybe it was a bad choice. Point is, is the code of conduct mandatory to abide by in terms of levels and black boxes, or just a suggestion and Principals can use their own discretion as they see fit.

There are no consequences for things like skipping class.

When it comes to HS Principals assigning consequences, is the Code of Conduct just a suggestion? For example - class cutting is listed as a Level 1-3 behavior. Would a Principal be allowed to issue an out of school (level 4) consequence anyway at their discretion?
